EXCLUSIVE OPEN CEREMONY ‘VELLIES’ from HERBERT SCHIER
Herbert Schier’s Mini Handmade Vellies - Veldskoen boots, know locally in Namibia as Vellies, have made their way to the Opening Ceremony store in the U. S. of A. In their country of origin, Vellies are worn by just about everyone, whether you’re a bushranger or a young student, but in New York City, only those who are looking for something unique might step into the original desert boots.
Made in a workshop on the Namibian coast out of two small pieces of kudu hide, the boots are hand-stitched by a team of eight hard working men. Only 20 pair are made daily as the craftsmen are very mindful of details and are always experimenting with new colorways.
The four shoes seen above have been designer especially for OC using 100% died kudu leather. The Patchwork “leopard” print boot is by far our favourite for the Lilsnobs.
